“Penny provided much-needed support, kindness, and companionship at home during the early stages of my mum’s Alzheimer’s journey. Her calm and caring nature made a real difference, not only to my mum’s daily life but also to my own peace of mind. It was incredibly reassuring to know that Penny would be there to help out when I couldn’t, offering both practical support and genuine friendship.

Her patience, reliability, and understanding gave us comfort during a challenging time, and I would highly recommend Hook Home Help to anyone looking for compassionate and trustworthy care.”

I was very touched by this review. I loved going to visit this lady and her husband. I used to pop round and make them both a sandwich and salad at a time when they were forgetting to eat.

Sometimes she would take me round the garden chatting about the plants. Sometimes I reminded her to do her physio exercises and we chatted as she did them. I always let her daughter know how she was doing and what she needed so she could pick up the shopping for her mum.

We are providing companionship for people with dementia, usually on a weekly basis so that we can get to know each other. Then we become a familiar face and a friendship is formed.

This can also give some respite to their partner who can have a few hours off knowing that the partner at home is safe and well looked after. We can do puzzles, jigsaws, exercises, or just make tea and chat - whatever is most helpful.

This is about having reliable, compassionate support with good communication between everyone involved. Hook Home Help likes to help.
