A new client and the start of a new friendship as we support her to live happily and independently

This was the day that we went to meet a new client. She had a fall and had spent a long time recovering in a care home. She had called me quite a few weeks ago and spoke as if she were plotting her escape from prison - her children thought that she would be safer there but she thought she would be happier at home!

Now she is delighted to be home but sad that she can't manage to do all the tasks that she used to be able to do, which is where we come in. Helen did the cleaning and got the house ship shape while I took the client for a walk in the garden. She felt worried about falling and scared to go out without some support. Together we looked at all the plants and she told me about her family and some of her experiences.

She also told me about her trip back into the care home to see the friends that she had made there. It was so touching. Word got round that she was back and she was treated like a celebrity as everyone came to say hello. She spoke so kindly of the staff who had cared for her but was so relieved to be back home in her own space.

There is a hairdresser who kindly recommended me, I would love to say thank you to this hairdresser and will try to track her down. Apparently a gentleman had told his hairdresser how grateful he was for my help and she has passed my leaflet on to this lady. This story makes me happy and I will use my detective skills to thank them.

This was such a happy day to be able to support this lovely lady on her path back to independence. She was delighted to hear that we can take her out and about to shops and garden centres as well as helping to keep the house clean and tidy.

We like meeting new people and supporting them to live happily and independently.

Update: The mystery has been solved - I am so happy. I found the hairdresser and was able to thank her! The lady who does people's hair at The Signals by Tesco's also goes into care homes. What a lovely lady. And how sweet that the gentleman in The Signals talked about me to her and gave her a leaflet to pass on to the other lady. I am so touched by this
