Hook Home Help was set up to provide reliable support to help look after older people and also to take the pressure off their families
Hook Home Help had a mention on BBC Radio Four's Woman's Hour today talking about women setting up businesses later in their careers.
Hook Home Help was set up to provide reliable support to help look after older people and also to take the pressure off their families who are often struggling to give them the time and help that they need.
It is hard to accept help and can sometimes be easier to accept help from a non family member.
We are a small team of women working part time to supply reliable companion care. Each of us have our own clients so you always see the same person each week and can start to grow a friendship with them.
Each person on the team says when, where and how they would like to work. All I'm looking for is kindness and reliability. Everyone has come with a personal recommendation from someone I know.
My dream is to provide a service that allows women to work in a way that works for them, and in a way that they feel happy and appreciated, and also to be able to provide a service that is valuable to older people in our community and their families.
The best bit is when I walk around Hook and have people thank me so sincerely for looking after their aunt, sister, or mum.
