This is just one of the loveliest things to happen to me lately. One of our clients’ daughters contacted me early one Monday morning to say that her dad needed an emergency dentist appointment and she didn’t have time to sort it out so could I take over and get the appointment and get him there, so I did.
It’s never easy getting through to the dentist and this gentleman needs to be seen downstairs so we booked him as soon as physically possible and off we set to go and see them. This gentleman is in his nineties although he looks ten years younger. Walking slowly with two sticks we set off down Fleet high street to get to the dentist.
He is so sweet he remembered the stories I had told him last summer, and asked after my children and my other clients.
One lady stopped him to suggest that he try out her walker which would be easier than walking with two sticks. It turned out she was exactly the same age as him and we all had a little chat. Small moments of connection like this can really brighten the day.
Then we got home and as I put his lunch on, I found that his daughter had left me a box of eggs laid by their very own chickens. What a special gift. This completely warmed my heart. I will be back again next month for more trips out and more chatting and hopefully seeing the chickens to say thank you.
