“It will give people an insight into what you do because it is not just cleaning”

Hook Home Help is helping people in different ways. Last week one of our helpers, Amy, was asked to help sort out an airing cupboard. She said she worked on it with the client and they were really laughing together about how to sort out the chaos, and the question we always ask ourselves - how to fold a fitted sheet?

She said that the client really perked up and said, “Oh, I’m quite excited about this!”. It is one of those jobs that we all put off but it is much easier to tackle with someone else there to be another pair of hands to get everything out and to organise things and then to help put everything back from the high shelves to the very bottom.

The client gave us permission to share the photos and said, “It will give people an insight into what you do because it is not just cleaning”. The helper also set up her new hoover and said the client was excited about that too. In a short space of time they have formed a real friendship.

Amy has got to know all three generations of this family and says that she really feels part of the family now. That is the whole idea of Hook Home Help. Someone to help you with anything that makes life a bit easier. Just by being there, friendships grow and trust is built and then there is someone there to be a listening ear and a hand to hold. Then you know there is someone who is already there and who you can rely on, should you need some extra help.
