This week Hook Home Help was out and about taking people to the shops and appointments, including this very special one. As ever, when we go to the hairdresser, we don't just get a new haircut, we also get some time out from everyday life where someone gives us their undivided attention and makes us feel a little bit special.

This hairdresser takes her time to make sure this client feels at ease and has exactly what she wants. While we are there we are immersed in wonderful smells as she gently adds different lotions and potions to my client's hair.

Each time we go, she tells how how pretty her natural colour is. Each time we come home, my client feels a bit happier and a bit lighter. This time we went straight to Tesco where one of her old friends noticed her new haircut and she was thrilled.

It is often the small acts of kindness that can make such a difference.
