This is our youngest ever team member who joined us a while ago. We are excited to have her on the team for so many reasons, partly because I have known her since she was a little girl skipping around at infant school. She has gone all the way through school with my daughter and is now taking a year out before heading off to train to be a midwife. 

She has always been kind and calm and a pleasure to be with. She was looking for some useful work experience to earn some money and to do something that involved looking after people, so it seemed a perfect fit. She came along with me to meet some clients and see what I do. Then she covered for me when I had to take some time off and finally she took on her own clients that she can walk to, because everyone this age is in the longest ever queue waiting for a driving test. I popped in to see one of her clients and he said, “Isn’t she lovely and such a hard worker”. 

She has the energy that comes with youth as well as a naturally sweet and conscientious nature. She is just cheerful and happy and never phased by anything. 

In establishing Hook Home Help, my dream is firstly to be able to support the older generation and also take the weight off the shoulders of my generation who are trying to work and look after children as well as their parents. As we expand, I hope to be able to offer flexible work to people who need part time work due to caring responsibilities or other part time work or studies. When I was a mum of small children it seemed impossible to find work that fitted into school hours, so I would be so happy to offer that to the next generation of mums in the same situation. So having this new and youngest member of the team is an exciting step on the journey to being able to provide something really useful to the younger generation as well. It feels like another small step towards the dream. 

I often check in to see that she is happy with everything and I ask her mum too to make sure. I check with the clients and their families to make sure everyone is happy with how things are going and so far everyone is happy which is how we want it to be.
