This week I was chatting to a lady in her nineties. She is managing so well in so many ways. She has friends and a cleaner and people who pick things up for her but she is lonely. We are there for a lift to the shops and a bit of a chat. This week I asked her what she used to do when she was working. Often when I ask people this, they light up as they tell me about the highlights of their careers and the adventures they have had. 

This lady talked me through a long career of impressive achievements and all the way back to one of her first jobs as an old fashioned telephonist, back in the day when they had to plug calls in with wires. She told me how they got to know the regular callers and sometimes there would be six girls listening in on a particular couple known for their steamy conversations! How she laughed at the memory. 

It is hard for us all to admit when we need help, and when we are lonely. Hook Home Help is here to pop in to help with things that seem like practical problems, but we also make a good cup of tea and like to have a good chat.
