Hook Home Help is taking people out and about to the doctors, the opticians and wherever they want to go

Today I felt completely humbled by my client. This morning I was running with Hook Runners in the morning. It was beautiful - the sky was blue, the sun was warm and all the leaves were turning. We all talked about what a beautiful autumn it was but we also joked about our aches and pains and getting older, although we are mostly in our fifties and are all absolutely fine.

This afternoon I took a lady out and about and in the car she asked after my children. When I told her they were at university she laughed and said, “You don’t look old enough”. I told her that I have just turned 51 and she replied thoughtfully, “What I would give to be 51 again. Not even much younger. Just to be 51. I had a job and was busy, and I knew everyone. I would like to be back there”. I felt very humbled to be reminded just how lucky I am. I thought that’s me - I have a job, I am busy, and I know everyone. It is good to be reminded of what we have.

Then we went to the opticians to pick up new glasses, and on to the pharmacy for some jabs, and off to buy essentials like crumpets. Then home again for a cup of tea and a chat about our next expedition.
