We have been providing companionship for this lady since the spring when Emily joined the team. She has been with them every week that they have needed and the two of them have developed a warm and happy friendship.
Emily has become real friends with many of her clients and the stories she tells me are so touching. Some of them have met her children and they send her home with sweets and ice cream for them. She is becoming part of many families in different ways.
I often tell clients about the Take a Break scheme which is local funding for 3 hours of respite care available to families of people living with memory loss. This can give people time out to do something for themselves without having to worry about their partner or parent. We will stay home and look after them and the other person can have a break knowing that there is nothing to worry about.
