“It was as if you were a friend who I had known for ages”
“Dear Emily
I can't tell you how super it was to meet and get to know you. It was as if you were a friend who I had known for ages. Thank you for all your understanding, initiative and care. As you can tell I am so happy to have got to know you.”
This is an email that Emily received when she was looking after a lady called Helen last month. This was a one off job which was a bit unusual because we were covering for a lady who runs a similar company and who is basically our competitor. When she went away for a few days she entrusted her special client to us while she was away. I think this is quite an unusual situation in itself - we were supporting each other and putting the clients first.
We had a busy week taking this lady to appointments and giving her all the support she needed while her regular helper was away.
Emily said about this, “When I worked with Helen I had a fantastic experience where it really enlightened me on what Hook Home Help is all about and how it addresses the gap in service offerings for those in the community who are between fully independent and requiring personal care. I spent the week on a variety of tasks from navigating online returns, preparing dinner, ironing, cleaning, trips to the doctor, pharmacy and garage and even positioning the house for potential buyers.
I had such a wonderful week with Helen, it was pure joy to turn up and help, but to also chat about our families, get some career advice and also share her frustrations with her illness. When I finished I walked away with a promise to revisit as a friend and to stay in touch.”
Home help can be completely flexible. We can pop in for a week or two while people’s usual helpers are away. We can pick up the reins and keep things going until you come back. We are a small team of women helping people in and around Hook, Odiham, Hartley Wintney and Rotherwick. Contact me if you would like to know more.
