As we all settle down for Christmas and the end of the year I realise what a wonderful year this has been for Hook Home Help. I have met so many lovely people and listened to so many stories which have touched my heart.
We have been able to help so many people in so many ways. Some clients we see several times a week and others only once a month or so. Most people we see once a week and that way we easily form friendships and bonds that run deep.
We have taken people to serious appointments, and taken notes for their families. We have also taken people to happy appointments like the hairdressers and on trips to see family and sometimes just to get out.
We have supported people through illness and bereavement. We have held hands and watched tears fall. We have sadly lost some clients this year, but some spoke openly about how they were ready to go, and one told us how he longed to be with his wife again. We were there to listen when times were hard and to make life as easy and as manageable as possible. We take their stories with us and will treasure them forever.
We are grateful for the opportunity to help people when they need it and we look forward to doing it all again next year.
In January we will be back to take the Christmas things down and clean and tidy and declutter. We will make tea and catch up with everyone and make resolutions and start the new year afresh.
Our little team is expanding and so is our area. From January we will be supporting people in Rotherwick and Old Basing, as well as Hook, Odiham and Hartley Wintney. Contact me if you would like to know more about what we do
