Help at Home in Hook in 2026

Happy new year to everyone who is part of Hook Home Help and who follows us.

Thank you to everyone who is interested and to everyone who says, “I like reading your stories”.

We hope everyone had a happy Christmas and a good start to 2026. It’s a new year and a new start. On Monday we will all be back to work helping people around the home in Hook. We will be taking down Christmas trees and cards and all the decorations.

For some people we will be providing companionship after what can be a lonely time. For other people we will be getting on top of the cleaning and housework. For some we will be running errands, or taking them out and about to appointments.

For everyone we will be listening to how they are and how their Christmas was. We will be talking about what they need more of this year and how we will get there.

We are helping some people to regain their confidence and mobility. We will walk next to them when they need support. We will take people to physiotherapy, and for some we will do their strengthening exercises with them.

We are helping some people to declutter so the house is easier to look after.

We are supporting some people with dementia to give them some one to one time and some company. We are supporting the families and partners of people with dementia by staying with them so that they can go out and do something for themselves.

We are doing Stealth Helping where we look like we are just there to clean and tidy but we are there to be an extra pair of eyes and hands.

We are often the first time that people have had anyone in to help. We are used to going slowly and carefully. We will always meet up for a chat before any commitment is made. There is no minimum amount of hours and no rush. Most people have us for an hour a week but we can be flexible. One lady met me three times and took nearly a year to decide that she needed some help. She was delighted when I remembered who she was and we went in the next week to help out. Contact me if you would like to know more about what we do

“Mum was so happy after you left. Thank you for your time, I know we both talked a lot. I think it was partly due to the relief that Mum felt and the fact that you were both so kind…”
