“Wonderful, kind and understanding. So incredibly responsive to changing and fluctuating needs and respectful of clients wishes. An amazing team of lovely people. Thank you so much.”
Sometimes we pop in every week and just help to keep everything ticking over. Every client is different and we go as often as they need and do whatever needs doing around the home. Often this is a bit of cleaning and a bit of help around the home. The odd trip out to the hairdressers or opticians. A bit of company and support with walking and exercises and helping people to keep on top of things. There are many regular clients seeing their regular helpers with no news, no drama and no photos. So far this year we have also covered a few emergency situations.
We have taken people to visit their partner in hospital, and supported them while they were home alone, unused to the solitude. We have informed relatives about increased confusion and people needing extra support. We have supported them while they make the difficult decisions that come with this.
We have stepped in when cleaners have disappeared without notice. We have listened to people who have suddenly been bereaved and had big life changes. We have called doctors and we have held hands.
We have kept in touch with people who have to travel abroad, stepping in and letting them know how their parents are. We have provided emergency home help following a fall and we have taken people to emergency dental and doctors appointments. We have picked up medication and run errands.
There have been quite a few panicked phone calls and some difficult conversations. None of these make for great stories or any photos. There have been many balls to juggle but we have caught them all, dusted them off and put them where they should be.
This was a happy trip taking a client to the hairdresser in the middle of all the chaos. It is a small thing but so important. This client is always her happiest on hairdresser day.
